michelle-kieva asked: Hello,

My current hair regimen consists of pre-pooing (its like a deep conditioning before the wash) with lots of oil to prevent dry hair and scalp, then I just wash and go. But I was wondering if I should be deep conditioning after the wash also. If I deep condition with lots of oil and honey (i feel like i need the two to retain moisture) AFTER my shampoo, will I have build-up? Should I pre-poo AND deep condition?

Hey chica…

Honestly, I would pre-poo and deep condition about once per month. If you pre-poo, wash, then use regular conditioner you should be good. Deep condtioning treatments don’t have to occur that often unless you have really dry hair or you’ve had a protective style for a while, in my opinion.

For your wash n gos are you usingĀ a leave-in conditioner or are you using products that cause your hair to dry out? If so, then that explains why you feel the need to pre-poo. I actually add oils to my conditioner as opposed to pre-pooing. When I pre-poo I feel like I’m wasting product sometimes since I’m just going to wash it out… Hope this helps!
