Anonymous asked: Hello! I have a dilemma and I've been trying to get different opinions. I've been natural for 6-ish years without a chop. But at the beginning of this year, my hair suffered from severe heat damage. Im talking most of my hair is bone straight. It's been 4 months and I've been debating chopping it. I'm nervous however, since I've never done a chop before. If I dont chop now, I plan to by December. I'm seeking others' opinions on what to do? Chop now, or chop later? Thanks! :D
Hey there, thanks for reaching out! I’ve had a similar problem in the past so hopefully the advice I give you will be helpful… If you’re not comfortable with chopping all your hair off at once, don’t. There are other options…
What you can do is cut about an inch or so off per month. If you’re eating right, drinking tons of water, and maybe even taking vitamins for hair growth (biotin) then your hair should be growing at about this rate and it won’t seem like you’re doing too much cutting. It’s also important to try to avoid using heat on your hair as much as possible and keep your hair moisturized. If you start this now, by the time December comes, you’ll be rid of plenty of that bone straight hair.
Best wishes!
