Both. You should go to a professional if it’s really bothering you… Get the style and shape you desire and be assured that your hair is healthy. Uneven hair is totally normal though…
Keep me posted!
Hello my loves! I’m 20 years old & I just recently decided to ditch my relaxers! *insert big sigh of relief* I’m really determined to go natural bc I know it’s so much healthier than the relaxers, but I’m still VERY scared. I have a head full of beautiful, long, & healthy relaxed hair. So, I just KNOW I’ll get a lot of sneers & disapproving looks bc of my decision. I don’t really feel like I have any kind of support system, which makes it really hard to stay strong during this process. I guess my whole reason for submitting this is……really to just ask for any encouraging words and/or helpful transitioning tips that any of you naturals (or ‘transitioners’) may have to help. I really don’t want to give up on this journey just bc of negativity from some when I know there are so many positive outlooks out there. Thanks a lot guys!

Hey chica! Congrats on making this big decision… Box braids are a great protective style as long as they’re not too tight and you keep them moisturized. Moisture is key in retaining length so that you can reach your hair goals. Best wishes, keep me posted :-)
I’m now following… Thanks for letting me know, love your blog so far!

My hair isn’t usually parted this way. I took a shower yesterday, so for some reason, it came out like this when I unbraided it. I’m starting to like my natural hair, but I’m thinking of new styles for it.

Tons of people are making flax seed gel to provide moisture and slick their hair down. Have you heard of it?

Is your hair thin since you combed the locs out? If so, I’d suggest keeping it moisturized and using castor oil on your scalp to help thicken your new growth. Try protective styling. I’m not sure how you want your hair to look and when I browsed your blog (which is great btw) I only saw photos of you with locs. Hope I helped a little bit! :-)
